Pantech to Supply CDMA Handsets to Tata Teleservices

Korean Pantech announced on Wednesday October 26 that it has won a contract from Indian Tata Teleservices to supply 300,000 units of its own-branded CDMA mobile phones. The Indian operator currently has approximately two million CDMA subscribers. Pantech stated that it would start shipping the handsets at the end of 2005 for about a year, and it aims to reach a 10% stake in the Indian CDMA handset market in 2006. The company also plans to launch GSM and 3G phones in the country in 2006.
